Oct 17, 2023The new RIDGID impact palm driver does away with the trigger so you can use it in any orientation—and it responds to your touch.
The first thing you may notice about the new RIDGID R8224K 12V palm driver is that there is no trigger. To operate the unit you simply pick it up and press down on your screw and it starts driving. RIDGID is calling this their push-to-drive technology, and it includes a pressure sensitive variable speed switch that controls the speed by pushing down on the tool. This eliminates the need for a trigger and allows you to hold the tool in any orientation.
The compact size of the tool helps get it into the tight spaces and since you no longer have to hold it in a certain direction, it should work where other tools won't. It's also small enough to fit in a kitchen drawer, which makes it easily accessible for jobs around the house.
The palm driver comes with other features, including an LED light which is useful for those dark spaces, a fuel gauge to test battery life, and a one handed quick-load collet that makes changing bits quicker and easier.
This tool comes with RIDGID's lifetime service agreement and will be available for $99 in May 2016.
