Jul 19, 2023I created my very own DIY privacy fence
A WOMAN has revealed that she created her very own DIY privacy fence, but it's totally divided opinion.
She explained that her existing fence was not high enough, so she used some wooden slats to make it higher, giving her more privacy.
Known on social media as Fall for DIY, the savvy woman took to TikTok to share the step-by-step process of her privacy fence.
The DIY whizz shared the clip on TikTok with the caption ‘Will I get my garden finished this year? Probably not if it keeps raining!’
She said: "I needed to add a privacy fence to my garden, so I decided to use a fence that I already had.
"So I drilled holes into the center of the wall and then added the post using a threaded rod and strong masonry adhesive.
"I used drill guides to cut the holes, but I was honestly so chuffed when these came out straight.
"I had these fence panels for years and I decided to re-use them to make this privacy fence.
"So I took the slats off and cut them all to size and I used my trusty nail gun to attach them to the post, adding an additional post in the middle to make sure they don't warp.
"I started this project last summer and over the winter a couple of the panels have warped, but these were really easy to replace.
"When it came to the slanted part of the wall, I added additional pieces of wood to create more of a frame.
"Then I cut my panels to the same angle of the wall and then I mirrored this at the top.
"I've still got to finish this small gap here, but I'm really, really pleased with how it's going so far."
The woman, who lives in Birmingham, then showed off the finished result - as she beamed at her DIY creation.
The fence clip has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 585.8k views.
It has 12,000 likes, 281 comments, 699 saves and 219 shares.
Many social media users thought the privacy fence looked great and were eager to express this in the comments.
One person said: "Looks amazing."
Another added: "This looks awesome!!!"
A third commented: "Great look, simple & effective design, well done great job."

However, not everyone was as impressed - as many pointed out concerns for the neighbours and thought that the privacy fence would be blocking out the sun.
As well as this, many thought that the fence would snap and others pointed out the lack of privacy due to the gaps in the fence.
One user shared: "I'm just a bit concerned that it's attached to your neighbours house?"
A second claimed: "I’d be livid if I lived next door and you blocked half my sun."
A third chimed in: "Wind will snap that fence if it gets bad. Posts aren't strong enough at all."
Someone else noted: "You should have the good side on your neighbours side, hope you get on with them or they could complain."
A fifth stated: "Love how people do privacy fences and still leave gaps between the slats."
Whilst another user questioned: "Privacy fence or Prison?"
