Turn Sweeping the Workshop from a Chore to a Joy with a DIY Air Broom

Build a basic air broom to quickly clean your floors.

It's important to keep your workshop floor clean so you don't track sawdust and debris back into the house. There's nothing wrong with a broom and a dustpan, but this DIY air broom quickly pushes dust and debris of all sizes into manageable piles. Plus it's much more fun to use than any vacuum or broom.

YouTuber sixtyfiveford, shows us how to make this vacuum with some basic parts you can purchase from any home center.

To build this air broom you'll need 1/2-inch PVC pipe, end caps, T-joint, air-valve, and a coupler. Drill 1/16-inch sized holes into the shorter ends of the broom and angle them inward to keep the air from blowing everywhere.

Attach your broom to an air compressor with no more than 50 PSI and go to work. If you plan on blowing fine sawdust and metal shavings, just be sure to use a respirator and eye protection to protect you from harmful airborne particles. And most importantly, have fun.
