Mother leaves son alone in car for 40 minutes: Brooklyn Police Blotter

BROOKLYN, Ohio

Child endangering: Brookpark Road

On Sept. 15, a concerned passerby called police after discovering that a boy had been left alone inside a vehicle parked in a Brookpark Road parking lot.

An arriving officer located the Cleveland mother, who had left her son, 7, unattended in the car for at least 40 minutes. She was cited for endangering children.

Stolen clothing: Plainfield Avenue

On Sept. 12, a Plainfield Avenue resident came to the police station to report that over the past six months, she has noticed several items of clothing missing from her home.

The woman suspects that her husband has been stealing her belongings. While she didn't want any investigation or charges, the resident asked for the incident to be documented.

Petty theft: Brookpark Road

On Sept. 12, a Menards employee observed a customer stealing merchandise from the Brookpark Road store.

An arriving officer located the suspect, who was arrested with a stolen coil roofing nailer. The Parma man was cited for theft.

Aggressive and unleashed: Pepper Ridge Drive

On Sept. 12, police were dispatched to a Pepper Ridge Drive address regarding two unleashed dogs that had charged at a passerby. Police are investigating.

Dine and dash: Northcliff Avenue

On Sept. 13, police were dispatched to a Northcliff Avenue restaurant after a manager discovered that four of six customers had left the establishment without paying for their meals. There are no suspects. Police are investigating.

Eluding police: Ridge Road

On Sept. 13, police observed a stolen red Kia SUV on Ridge Road.

When the officer attempted to pull over the Kia, the driver took off northbound. The pursuit was terminated due to high speeds. There are no suspects. Police are investigating.

Lost child: Westbrook Drive

On Sept. 17, a concerned passerby called police after discovering a toddler walking around alone in a Westbrook Drive apartment complex.

An arriving officer located the child's residence. She was turned over to her aunt.
